Average monthly pension rises 0.3% in Q2; number of pensioners falls to 4.913 million

In Q2 2026, the average monthly pension reached 2,942 lei, a 0.3% increase from the previous quarter, with 4.913 million pensioners recorded. The number of state social insurance pensioners decreased by 4,000 to 4.573 million. The real average pension index was 98.1%. Compared to the same quarter last year, the total number of pensioners fell by 5,000, while state social insurance pensioners rose by 11,000. Women made up 55% of old-age pensioners, totaling 2.17 million. Additionally, 885,900 beneficiaries received social allowances, with the majority from the state social insurance system.
