A major power outage occurred in Sibiu due to a failure at the Sibiu Nord transformer station, affecting around 40% of the city. DEER reported that 5,773 users were temporarily without electricity. The outage was caused by high energy demand, leading to equipment failure. Although power was restored for most users by 16:55, the incident highlighted issues related to infrastructure investment. A modernization project for the transformer station is scheduled for completion by December 2028.
