Bulgaria is accelerating the construction of a highway connecting Romania and Greece, with the first 75.5 km expected to be completed by 2028, a year earlier than planned. This project aims to enhance traffic flow from Romania through Bulgaria to Greece and Turkey. The highway will significantly improve safety and travel speed by separating traffic directions and reducing heavy vehicle congestion in localities. The long-term goal includes a continuous route from Ruse to Makaza, facilitating access to the Aegean Sea. However, the third section of the highway is currently stalled due to procedural issues, which need to be resolved for the project to progress further.
