Autostrada București-Giurgiu: 7 trasee analizate
Seven route options are being evaluated for the future Bucharest-Giurgiu Highway, the first high-speed road at Romania's border with Bulgaria. The National Company for Road Investments (CNIR) has received these proposals, which aim to connect with the future Giurgiu-Ruse 2 Bridge and the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo highway under construction in Bulgaria. The project will also link to major highways originating from Bucharest. CNIR will select two of the seven routes for further analysis based on a multicriteria assessment considering terrain conditions, traffic connections, and technical, economic, and environmental criteria. The highway aims to enhance road connectivity between Bucharest and Giurgiu, improve safety, and reduce pollution. The study contract is valued at 33 million lei and will take 18 months to complete.
