The platform for the TBM that will drill the Poiana Tunnel on the Sibiu-Pitești Highway is nearing completion. The first component, the cutting head, will soon arrive at the site. This head, weighing around 180 tons and measuring 6.5 meters in diameter, will be assembled on-site and expanded to 12.5 meters for tunneling. The entire TBM assembly will reach approximately 100 meters in length. Construction on the Poiana Tunnel and other structures is progressing, with about 30% of the site currently active. Overall, the physical progress of the longest section of the highway is at about 18%.
