Authorities announced the closure of the A1 Sibiu-Pitești highway between Sibiu and Boița for two and a half months starting October 5, 2026, due to construction work. Traffic will be diverted to DN7 and DN1 during this period. Additionally, the first bored tunnel in Romania has been completed on the Sibiu-Pitești highway, measuring 1.35 kilometers in length, ahead of schedule. Environmental permits and construction authorizations for the mountainous sections are expected to be obtained in October.
