Autostrada A1, cea mai lungă din România. Cum a fost construită și când va fi finalizată, după mai mult de 50 de ani
The A1 highway in Romania, spanning 578 kilometers, is nearing completion after over 50 years of construction. Currently, 491 kilometers are finished, with 87 kilometers remaining, particularly on the Sibiu-Pitești and Lugoj-Deva sections. A new segment, Tigveni-Curtea de Argeș, is expected to open in 2026, adding nearly 10 kilometers to the completed stretch. The Margina-Holdea section, featuring two major tunnels, is anticipated to be finished by early 2027. The entire A1 route is projected to be operational by 2028-2029, pending the completion of challenging mountainous sections. The highway is crucial for connecting Bucharest to the western border with Hungary.
