The number of building permits for residential buildings decreased by 11.6% in the first seven months of 2026 compared to the previous year. In July, 2,909 permits were issued, marking a 20.8% drop from July 2025. Most regions experienced declines, with the largest reductions in the North-East and South-Muntenia. Only Bucharest-Ilfov saw an increase in permits. Non-residential building permits showed a different trend, with a slight increase in July compared to June, although they still fell compared to the previous year.
