The history of gold mining in the Apuseni Mountains will be transformed into a tourism resource through a new exhibition circuit developed by the ASTRA Museum in collaboration with local communities. The project "Gold of the Apuseni. Curse and Development" aims to highlight the impact of gold exploitation on local landscapes and economies. The exhibition will feature traditional constructions and mining community testimonies, utilizing artifacts from the ASTRA Museum's collections. Local involvement is key, with participation from students, teachers, and artisans to foster a connection between heritage and visitors. A significant focus is on the UNESCO-listed Roșia Montană Cultural Landscape, promoting cultural tourism as a development avenue for the region.
