August Hanning, fostul șef al Serviciului german de Informații Externe, reținut și acuzat de înaltă trădare, avea afaceri în România. A fost asociat într-o firmă de consultanță cu un ex-secretar de stat în MApN

August Hanning, former head of the German Foreign Intelligence Service, was arrested on October 6 on suspicion of high treason for allegedly passing secret information to a former Soviet state. He led the BND from 1998 to 2005 and later served as Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Hanning became a partner in a Romanian defense consultancy firm shortly before his arrest, which was linked to a significant military program involving the German group Rheinmetall. His associate, Andrei Ignat, has a controversial background, including allegations of sabotaging a military tender. Ignat was previously Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense.
