Operations to sink four barges in the Danube to increase water flow to the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant resumed on Thursday after being delayed due to strong currents. The last barge is being loaded with weights before all four are aligned and transported to the Bala arm. Experts emphasize the need for this operation to create an underwater barrier, enhancing water flow to the Old Danube arm and ultimately to the power plant for reactor cooling. The sinking will be done through controlled flooding, with operations expected to last around six hours, aiming for completion before nightfall. Even a few centimeters increase in water level is crucial for the plant's operation.
