Au fost create primele ceasuri nucleare din lume: Vor fi extrem de precise și vor revoluționa modul în care percepem timpul

Researchers from Vienna and Beijing have independently developed the world's first functional nuclear clocks, which could surpass atomic clocks in precision. These clocks measure time through laser interactions with atomic nuclei, specifically using thorium-229 isotopes. While not yet more accurate than existing atomic clocks, they hold potential for applications in satellite navigation, communications, and precision measurements. The simultaneous success of both teams indicates the viability of this technology, with possibilities for collaboration to enhance clock performance. Notably, the Vienna team has also utilized the nuclear clock in experiments aimed at detecting dark matter, showcasing its measurement capabilities.
