Atletul român Ștefan Ciobanu, pe locul 8 în finala probei de aruncare a greutății la Mondialele U20

Romanian athlete Ștefan Alexandru Ciobanu finished eighth in the shot put final at the U20 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with a best throw of 19.20 meters. He qualified for the final with a throw of 19.39 meters. The gold medal was won by Brazil's Alessandro Borges, who set a personal record of 20.35 meters. Ciobanu, the European U18 champion, also achieved a personal best of 20.45 meters outdoors in June 2024. In the women's 100m heats, Ana-Maria Dogan and Carolina-Andreea Pungă both recorded personal bests but did not advance to the semifinals. The first day of the championships saw a world record in the mixed 4x400m relay by the USA. Kenyan Frankline Kibet won the U20 men's 5,000m title, while Uganda's Charity Cherop triumphed in the women's event.
