Starting January 1, 2027, pensioners in Romania will receive a new pension slip featuring a QR code or barcode for easier access to transport discounts. This change aims to simplify the process, allowing pensioners to use the slip as the sole document for verifying their rights to free or reduced transport. The initiative will apply nationwide to all pensioners, including vulnerable groups such as war veterans and widows. Additionally, a new law will enable Romanians to increase their pension savings through investment accounts, modeled after the American system, allowing for tax-free growth of investments over time.
