Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis urged London to show political will to resolve the historical dispute over the Parthenon marbles held at the British Museum. In an opinion piece, he emphasized the need for courage to reunite the sculptures and transform the conflict into a cultural friendship. Mitsotakis noted that British Prime Minister Andy Burnham previously supported the return of the marbles but has since changed his stance, citing a law that prevents the museum from making restitutions. The Greek leader criticized proposals for temporary loans of the marbles, insisting that Greece would not accept any agreement recognizing British ownership. He reiterated Greece's long-standing claim that the marbles were taken unlawfully by Lord Elgin in 1802, while London maintains they were legally acquired.
