Atena analizează retragerea sistemelor Patriot din Arabia Saudită
The future of Greece's deployment in Saudi Arabia and the potential return of Patriot batteries will be discussed in the upcoming KYSEA meeting. The Greek Ministry of National Defense is considering extending the mission or withdrawing the Patriot system after five years. The deployment has provided significant operational benefits, but uncertainties remain regarding agreements on maintenance and modernization of the Patriot systems. Negotiations for modernizing six mobile Patriot batteries were previously advanced but were frozen due to the Iran conflict. Greek officials emphasize ongoing discussions with Riyadh and commitment to replace used missiles, ensuring Greece's ammunition reserves are not depleted. The deployment has also showcased the high readiness level of the Greek forces, achieving a 100% success rate in intercepting threats.
