The National Administration of Penitentiaries (ANP) reported a cyber attack that began on July 28 and continued into July 29, leading to data encryption. The exact method of the attack remains unknown, but critical databases were not compromised. ANP teams are working with cybersecurity authorities to mitigate the impact and restore systems. Physical disconnection of all equipment was completed by 10 AM on July 29, and normal operations continue using alternative communication methods. Preliminary checks indicate that important applications and databases, including the inmate registry, were unaffected.
