On July 29, 2026, the National Administration of Penitentiaries experienced a ransomware cyberattack affecting its workstations and servers. The agency has implemented temporary measures to maintain inmates' rights, including alternative procedures for phone calls, visits, and purchases. The National Cyber Security Directorate has been notified and is providing support. An investigation is ongoing, and the ANP will share updates as they become available.
