Atac cibernetic asupra oficialilor UE: Hackerii au încercat să le preia conturile de Signal și WhatsApp

State-sponsored hackers have attempted to compromise the Signal and WhatsApp accounts of European officials, according to a confidential European Commission presentation. This document highlights the cybersecurity threats faced by EU institutions over the past year. For the first time, European institutions officially acknowledge state-backed actors using spear-phishing attacks targeting EU officials. The attacks primarily aimed at high-ranking officials and involved social engineering techniques referencing sensitive EU topics. In the last 12 months, over 190 cyber actors were identified as threats, with significant incidents reported. A recent security breach also compromised Amazon Web Services accounts hosting parts of the Europa.eu site, prompting calls for enhanced protection of sensitive information.
