Astronomii au identificat cea mai rapidă stea din Calea Lactee

Astronomers have discovered the fastest known star in the Milky Way, orbiting the black hole Sagittarius A* at speeds up to 25,000 km/s. This star, named S301, completes its orbit in just 8.7 years, coming within 12 times the Earth-Sun distance. The discovery allows for new insights into the black hole's properties, potentially enabling measurements of its rotation, which could test Einstein's theory. Observations were made using the GRAVITY+ instrument at the Very Large Telescope in Chile, suggesting S301 may have originated from a binary system.
