Astronomii au descoperit 84 de surse misterioase de raze X ascunse în galaxii
Astronomers have discovered 84 'hypersoft' X-ray sources in six galaxies, including Andromeda, previously unnoticed by the Chandra telescope. These sources emit most energy as extreme ultraviolet light, absorbed by interstellar gas. The findings suggest that these objects could be white dwarfs, neutron stars, or black holes accumulating matter. The study indicates that many of these sources may be linked to supernovae, although not all will explode. The research highlights the existence of energetic cosmic objects that remain hidden in data from powerful telescopes, paving the way for further exploration of extreme ultraviolet emissions.
