Astrofizicianul Francis Halzen a câștigat Premiul Nobel pentru Fizică
Belgian-American astrophysicist Francis Halzen has been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics for his significant contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos. Halzen led an international team that developed a groundbreaking tool for a new type of astronomy. His vision of capturing neutrinos in Antarctica began in 1988, utilizing the stable geological conditions and clear ice to detect neutrino interactions. The prize, worth 12 million Swedish kronor, is part of the ongoing Nobel announcements this week, which also include awards in medicine, chemistry, literature, and peace.
