The Association for Intelligent Energy warns that electricity bills in Romania may rise by 22% in the coming months. This increase is attributed to ongoing market alertness and new forecasts for gas prices and exchange rates. For new contracts signed this autumn, the average price could reach approximately 1.67 lei/kWh, significantly higher than previous rates. The anticipated rise would add around 74 lei to the monthly bill for a household consuming 200 kWh. AEI's analysis indicates that the cost of energy acquisition is the main factor driving this increase, alongside other market dynamics. Three scenarios for future pricing have been proposed, with the central estimate suggesting a 22% increase as the most likely outcome.
