The Romanian insurance market experienced a 15% growth in the first half of 2026, reaching approximately 14.2 billion lei. General insurance premiums accounted for about 78% of total subscriptions, with a 13% increase in gross premiums. The RCA insurance segment saw a significant rise, with premiums totaling around 6 billion lei, up 17% from the previous year. The average RCA premium for cars rose to 2,093 lei, reflecting market conditions and rising costs. The total gross indemnities paid reached about 6.7 billion lei, marking a 16% increase. Technical reserves under Solvency II reached approximately 30 billion lei, up 24% year-on-year. Brokerages played a crucial role, distributing 68% of total premiums, with a notable increase in both general and life insurance.
