The World Stone Skimming Championship on Easdale Island features 400 competitors from over 30 countries, aiming to skip stones across water. Each participant has three throws, needing at least three skips for a valid attempt. Following last year's controversy with polished stones, an official geologist is present this year to ensure fairness. The event attracts around 2,000 spectators, transforming the island's usual quiet atmosphere. Competitors must use stones from Easdale, under 7.6 cm in diameter, verified by a device called the 'Ring of Truth'.
