Rail traffic between Drobeta Turnu Severin and Caransebeș will be suspended starting February 17, 2027, for five years due to modernization works. This project aims to rehabilitate the Craiova – Drobeta Turnu Severin – Caransebeș line, impacting both domestic and international train routes. Trains will be redirected through alternative routes, affecting services to Timișoara and Budapest. The modernization includes extensive infrastructure upgrades, ensuring compliance with European safety and interoperability standards. The total investment for the project is approximately 6.57 billion lei, with significant works planned on bridges and tunnels along the route.
