Due to low temperatures, Romania's electricity consumption exceeded 8,000 MW, nearing the forecasted maximum for the year. The peak consumption was recorded at 8,189 MW, with production at 7,381 MW, relying on imports for the remainder. Romania has been on energy alert since August due to reduced hydroelectric output and the shutdown of a nuclear unit. The forecast suggests a potential peak of 8,432 MW by early December. Current energy production is primarily from wind and hydro sources, with significant reliance on imports to meet demand.
