A recent ANCOM study reveals that Romanian adolescents spend nearly three hours daily on social media, with 47% creating accounts without parental consent. The average internet usage for Romanians is over four hours, increasing to 5.5 hours for teens and young adults. TikTok is viewed as the riskiest platform, followed by Roblox and Snapchat. Communication, entertainment, and social networking are the primary reasons for internet use. 65% of respondents encountered online fraud or misleading content, prompting changes in their online behavior. While 70% find parental control features useful, only 34% of parents actively use them. The study highlights a gap between parental awareness and action regarding online safety.
