The controversy surrounding a 20 million lei aircraft contract at the Ministry of Environment continues, with former minister Diana Buzoianu explaining its necessity for monitoring illegal logging. She stated that the contract was initiated before her tenure and that only one company participated in the bidding process. Buzoianu emphasized the importance of the aircraft for deploying sensors to scan Romanian forests and combat illegal logging. She clarified that funding would come from a ROMSILVA-managed fund, not directly from the government. Current Minister Natalia Intotero has halted the purchase due to lack of funds and is exploring a joint acquisition with other ministries.
