The new Burn Center for Children at "Grigore Alexandrescu" Hospital in Bucharest is expected to be operational by late next year, according to Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete. Construction is progressing rapidly, with completion anticipated by mid-2027. The center will feature a modern intensive care unit and ten operating rooms, including two for severe burn patients. A dedicated medical circuit will ensure that children with severe burns are isolated from other patients. The project has a budget of approximately 80 million euros, with 50% already disbursed, funded by the World Bank. Concurrently, the hospital will initiate procurement procedures for medical equipment, financed by the Ministry of Health and European funds.
