On November 3, 2026, the Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF) announced the acceptance of the RE-IR electric train unit TS24, manufactured by Alstom, for commercial passenger service. This train is part of a contract for 37 new interregional electric trains. The TS24 unit has been handed over to the InterRegional Călători transport operator, marking the 11th unit delivered from a total of 13. The trains will operate on four routes connecting major cities in Romania. The project aims to enhance public transport services and improve connectivity between the capital and urban centers, with a total investment of over 1.7 billion lei, funded through various programs.
