Electrocentrale București S.A. (ELCEN) is resuming procedures to connect CET București Vest directly to the National Gas Transport System, aiming to enhance energy security and reduce heating costs for residents. The project, estimated to take three years and cost 83.3 million lei, involves the installation of a high-pressure underground pipeline. This connection will eliminate intermediary distribution costs, leading to lower prices for consumers. ELCEN, which supplies thermal energy to around 560,000 apartments in Bucharest, emphasizes that this initiative is crucial for modernizing the city's energy infrastructure and aligning with European sustainability standards. The project is part of a broader investment strategy to improve energy efficiency and security in the capital.
