Schaeffler plans to lay off 3,460 employees and close five factories in Europe due to intense competition and declining demand for combustion engine vehicles. The company aims to save around 300 million euros annually by 2030, with exceptional costs estimated at 480 million euros. The restructuring will impact 16 of its plants, including the one in Brașov, Romania, although specific layoff numbers have not been disclosed. Some production activities will be shifted to other facilities, while new investments are planned for the Brașov unit.
