In the first nine months of 2026, the value of vacation vouchers reimbursed was 560.48 million lei, marking a significant decline compared to previous years. The amount of vouchers purchased by employers also decreased, totaling 491.07 million lei, which is lower than in 2025 and 2024. The National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT) reported a visible contraction in tourism, with the most substantial drop occurring in May. The data indicates a continuous decline in both voucher purchases and reimbursements over the past three years. The new Minister of Economy, Daniel Zamfir, emphasized the importance of vacation vouchers as an investment and aims to increase their value significantly.
