DIICOT conducted 65 searches related to a criminal group accused of stealing around 70 cargo shipments across Romania and Europe, particularly from Belgium. The operation involved multiple counties and was supported by various law enforcement agencies. The group, formed in March 2024, utilized fraudulent methods to divert shipments and misappropriate goods, including electronics and food products, resulting in an estimated loss of 9 million euros. A joint investigation team was established with Belgian authorities to address cross-border crimes.
