The National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) proposes a minimum gross salary of 4,652 lei by 2027, highlighting that about one-third of full-time employees earn only slightly above the minimum wage. A study presented by BNS indicates that one in four workers still earns around the minimum wage, two years after the implementation of the European Directive 2022/2041. Currently, Romania ranks 20th out of 22 EU countries in minimum wage levels, with a projected 825 euros by mid-2026. BNS argues that the transposition of the European Directive has not led to necessary structural changes in wage distribution. The proposed minimum wage should be based on a transparent mechanism and supported by genuine collective bargaining.
