The Ministry of Finance reported a budget deficit of 3.81% of GDP for the first nine months of 2026, down from 5.31% in 2025. Public investments increased by 48.6%, reaching 47.81 billion lei in Q3. Budget revenues rose by 15.2%, while interest expenses grew by 6.55 billion lei. The quarterly deficit was 37.27 billion lei, lower than planned. Achieving the annual deficit target of 6.2% depends on timely EU fund disbursements. Total expenditures increased by 15%, driven by investments and interest payments. The Minister of Finance emphasized the importance of securing PNRR funds for maintaining fiscal stability.
