Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported a record 49 Chinese military aircraft detected around the island in 24 hours, coinciding with increased naval activity. Among these, 31 crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone. This surge follows the deployment of numerous Chinese vessels in the Western Pacific, including the aircraft carrier Liaoning. Taiwan's National Security Council Secretary Joseph Wu highlighted the simultaneous threat to Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines. Despite a decrease in Chinese aerial operations this year, the presence of military aircraft remains significant, with 2,335 recorded since January, a notable decline from previous years. Beijing views Taiwan as part of its territory, while Taiwan asserts its right to self-determination.
