Public libraries in rural Romania face significant challenges, with millions lacking access to books and educational resources. Deputy Alexandrin Moiseev raised concerns to the Ministry of Culture, highlighting that less than half of Romania's communes have functional libraries. He pointed out that over 4.5 million rural residents are deprived of reading materials. The funding distribution is heavily skewed, with most of the budget allocated to salaries rather than new books. Moiseev emphasized the need for concrete measures to support libraries, especially in Botoșani, and called for government programs to assist communes in acquiring new publications and modernizing library facilities.
