Romania's Health Minister, Alexandru Rogobete, announced a structural reform of the medication policy aimed at reducing patient wait times for innovative treatments. The reform will simplify evaluation procedures, introduce modern pricing mechanisms, and reduce bureaucracy. Currently, Romanian patients wait over 900 days for access to innovative medications, compared to under 500 days in Europe. The first phase will add over 40 new drugs to the reimbursement list by December, while the second phase, starting in 2027, will implement new methodologies to further decrease wait times. Rogobete emphasized the importance of timely access to treatments for patients, especially those with serious conditions.
