The European Commission is investigating cyberattacks on refrigeration systems in supermarkets across seven countries, which caused temperature increases. Commissioner Christophe Hansen expressed concern over the repeated attacks, highlighting vulnerabilities in the food supply chain. While he assured that food security is not at risk, he emphasized the need for preparedness against evolving threats. The Security College of the Commission will discuss these incidents, which have affected retailers in Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, and Estonia. Similar attacks occurred in France previously, where hackers manipulated defrosting mechanisms, risking food safety.
