The U.S. Supreme Court denied a last-minute request from the Trump administration to intervene in California's vote counting process for the midterm elections. The Justice Department sought to exclude 20,000 ballots allegedly issued to non-citizens, but lower courts had already rejected this claim. State election officials argued that the federal government's identification process was flawed. The Supreme Court's decision, announced just before the elections, means that lower court rulings will stand, effectively ending Trump's attempt to invalidate these ballots. California, with around 23 million registered voters, had already received over six million mail-in ballots by Sunday evening.
