The Romanian government has postponed penalties for fiscal receipts lacking QR codes until October 31, 2027. This decision affects around one million cash registers and aims to allow businesses more time to adapt their systems. The urgency ordinance published on October 30, 2026, indicates that the implementation of new requirements cannot be completed by the previously set deadline. Businesses are still required to issue fiscal receipts, but the absence of a QR code will not incur fines until the new deadline. Consumers will continue to receive fiscal receipts as usual, regardless of the QR code status.
