The modernization of tram tracks is underway on 28 streets in Bucharest, with completion deadlines set for each project. The initiative began in February 2024, aiming to upgrade 50 km of tram lines. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu has accelerated the pace, emphasizing that all projects must be finished by December 2029 to avoid losing 1.6 billion lei in non-reimbursable funds. Several lots have been completed, while others are at various stages of progress, with specific deadlines for each lot ranging from 2027 to 2029. The ongoing works are part of a broader effort to enhance the city's infrastructure.
