Michael Douglas sparked debate by criticizing Cher's 1988 Oscar win over Glenn Close during a talk show appearance. He expressed surprise that Cher won for "Moonstruck" instead of Close for "Fatal Attraction." Other guests reacted humorously, while Douglas's comments divided film fans online, with some supporting Cher's performance and others agreeing with Douglas. Close has received eight Oscar nominations without a win, tying with Peter O'Toole for the most nominations without a victory.
