Five senators have joined the PSD parliamentary group, previously elected as independents from SOS and POT parties. The new members include Ionel Carp, Valentina-Mariana Aldea, Liviu Sorin Robe, Cristian Bem, and Robert Daniel Ghiță. These changes occurred after PSD returned to power in the Luca Niculescu cabinet and the PACE group was dissolved. Recently, PNL also transferred senator Gheorghe Ștefănache from USR. The current Senate composition shows PSD with 40 members, AUR with 30, PNL with 27, USR with 18, UDMR with 10, and 9 independents. A majority of 68 votes is needed for passing organic laws.
