The Vice President of the European Central Bank, Boris Vujcic, stated that Eurozone countries are integrating more rapidly with the United States than among themselves, increasing economic vulnerability amid rising geopolitical tensions. He highlighted that investments from Europe are often directed to the U.S. rather than within the EU, despite efforts to create a unified capital market. A BCE study revealed that barriers to cross-border investments between the Eurozone and the U.S. have decreased significantly since 2014, while internal barriers remain high. Vujcic noted that fragmented capital markets in Europe hinder economic resilience, especially during shocks like the pandemic.
