Today, the National Energy System reported a record wind energy production of 2,908 MW, the highest in five years. With a total installed capacity of 3,100 MW, nearly all wind turbines in Romania are operational. Wind energy contributes about 42% to local production, followed by hydro and gas sources. Despite high wind energy output, nuclear production is at zero, and due to summer droughts, hydro capacity is underutilized. Consequently, Romania still relies on energy imports, with a net import of 329 MW, primarily from Bulgaria. Exports to Hungary are lower than imports, resulting in a deficit.
