The Social Democratic Party is calling for an investigation into the awarding of contracts under the European SAFE program, which aims to enhance Romania's defense capabilities. They allege that billions of euros, borrowed for 40 years, were awarded to a single company, Rheinmetall, through direct procurement. PSD suggests including this investigation in a parliamentary inquiry to clarify the contract awarding process and its legality. Recently, the Minister of National Defense announced that a Control Corps was sent to the General Directorate for Armaments to oversee military acquisitions. The investigation focuses on payments made under the SAFE program, with reports indicating that around 650 million euros have already been allocated to Rheinmetall, which won a bid for the Mangalia Shipyard.
