Romania's economy may decline by up to 1% this year, with recession risks extending into 2027. Growth projections for next year range from 0% to 0.5%. Adrian Codirlasu, president of CFA Romania, highlighted that energy production cuts and consumption trends are impacting economic outlooks. He anticipates a mild recession this year and stagnant growth next year, influenced by external economic conditions and budget deficit financing challenges. Rising energy prices are also exerting inflationary pressures. Codirlasu predicts a gradual depreciation of the national currency in the coming years, estimating an exchange rate of 5.4 to 5.5 lei per euro by year-end 2024.
